As a Licensed Psychologist, Lori Cangilla has successfully treated numerous individuals and couples, focusing on trauma, womens health and developmental transitions, grief/loss, anxiety disorders and body-focused repetitive behaviors. Lori is well-versed in helping individuals overcome crisis situations such as abuse, violence and suicidal thinking and has also developed and managed programs to treat these and other issues in group settings.
Throughout Loris expansive career, she has overseen staff,
operations and outreach efforts, performed clinical as well as career
assessments, counseled students during her employment at Duquesne University and
served in many other capacities at Duquesnes Counseling Center.
Lori also counseled at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Gannon University, Safe Harbor Behavioral Health, womens shelters and through her own private practice. A compassionate and devoted professional, she also uses her clinical skills to volunteer, mentor and teach.
Lori earned her PhD in Psychology Counseling and her Masters in Community Counseling, with Distinction from Gannon University in Erie, PA, where she received the Community Counseling Graduate award for Scholastic Excellence and was a charter member of the Chi Sigma Iota counseling honor society. Furthermore, Lori is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional and member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals. She is also a current member of the American Psychological Association and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
With specialized training in personality and career assessment, Lori administers psychological assessments at Samaritan in addition to providing counseling. She sees clients at our Bakerstown and Sewickley offices.
