Family Therapy

Every family deals with transitions and changes. Often getting family counseling is the beginning of new, healthier relationship patterns and sometimes breaking generational cycles of abuse or neglect.

Many of Samaritan Counseling Center’s therapists are systemic and use a systems approach to family therapy. This takes into consideration not only the individual, but their family of origin, their current family, and their environment. Our counselors are trained to guide families to change how they relate to each other with the outcome of healthier relationships.

Families Matter Workshop

Families Matter is a unique workshop designed to help families and family members identify their unique strengths and weaknesses. During the course of this three-week workshop, breakout groups will cover parenting, developing positive communication skills, conflict resolution, relationship dynamics, self-esteem and other important issues. This workshop is both fun and effective because moms and dads participate in parenting education while children and teens engage in age-appropriate art therapy and self-esteem workgroups. Additionally, family needs are explored--including areas of strength and growth--and parents and kids come to appreciate one another's similiarities as well as uniqueness. The workshop culminates with a private therapy session where a family comes together to discuss their own unique needs and goal setting.
