Bereavement Program

The death of someone you love is one of life’s greatest stresses and an experience none of us can avoid. The process of healing from such a loss is often called “grief work,” and with good reason. It is a difficult job requiring time, energy and concentrated effort.

Grieving adults, as well as children, need the opportunity to express their feelings in a safe and caring environment and to know there are others like them.

The period of grief following the loss of a loved one may result in many behavioral, social and emotional changes. Adults and children face difficult adjustments. The Samaritan Counseling Center Bereavement Program attempts to aid those who are grieving make those adjustments, in understanding their emotional reactions and in better managing their lives.

The Samaritan Counseling Center’s Bereavement program provides:

  • Adult support groups that are:
    • Led by experienced and well trained professionals.
    • Six weeks in length
    • Educational and supportive
    • Conducted free of charge
  • Individual counseling for adults and children.
  • Speakers (In-Services and Trainings)
    • Teachers, Student Assistance personnel, nurses, staff
    • Children and Grief, Adult Grieving Process, etc.
  • Support for congregations and pastors
  • Resources
