Currently a graduate student at Duquesne University, Caryn is working towards earning a Master’s in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling. With her sights set on graduating in the summer of 2023, Caryn serves as our Intern Therapist and is eager to join Samaritan for her practicum and internship learning experiences. Prior to pursuing studies in the counseling field, Caryn graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2021 with a Master of Divinity. She is currently a candidate in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. ordination process. The integration of psychotherapy and spirituality are elements of what draws Caryn into this helping profession.

Believing that all counseling is multicultural, Caryn appreciates that each individual’s life story and his/her/their experiences are unique. She is LGBTQIA+ open and affirming, and passionate about working with people of all backgrounds at any age and stage of life. Whether working in individual, couple or family counseling, Caryn’s way of being with clients is rooted in person-centered counseling; wherein, she seeks to truly see, hear and listen to each client and cultivate a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

Prior to studies in higher education, Caryn worked in the steel industry, working in marketing and pricing in the corporate setting. She collaborated with product engineers, sales, customer service and invoicing, and was the ethics coordinator for the marketing/pricing department.  Caryn graduated from Saint Francis University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business.
