Martin Weiss is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh in the School of Information Sciences where he teaches Introduction to Telecommunications, and Telecommunications Industry and Regulation Education. Martin earned his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in the Department of Engineering and Public Policy, and his MSE from the University of Michigan in Computer, Information, and Control Engineering. Additionally, he has served as an industry consultant and expert witness.
Karen Weiss worked for 20+ years as an International Team Leader at Philipps/Respironics and retired in August, 2011. In December of 2018, she became involved in a start-up called Iron Condor Capital as a board member.
Martin and Karen, who raised four children, were both born and raised in Connecticut. They are first-generation Americans, and both speak fluent German. They are avid skiers, gardeners (Karen volunteers at Phipps), world travelers, and have been to every continent!
The couple love to cook and bake together, and frequently entertain family and friends. They have a very large wine cellar comprised of over 1,000 wines from all over the world.
