Jennifer joined Samaritan as a full time Licensed Professional Counselor in February 2019. Prior to Samaritan, Jennifer was working in community mental health where she worked with adults, children/ adolescents and entire families. She has helped people to navigate crisis situations, learn proactive strategies to decrease the need for crisis intervention, and how to manage a broad range of mental health diagnoses.
Jennifer earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Combining communication skills and counseling skills has proven to be a great asset to Jennifer’s clients. Jennifer has also received the Teacher Counselor of the Year award from Pressley Ridge for her work as a Family Based Mental Health Therapist.
Jennifer currently works with individuals ages five and older. She has a certificate endorsing her practice of Structural Family Therapy given to her by Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Jennifer also has a heart for the Autism Spectrum community. She counsels several families who have a child on the Autism Spectrum, as well as siblings of a person on the Autism Spectrum, and individuals who have been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum. Jennifer also has extensive experience working with individuals with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Prader Willi Syndrome, Fragile X, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Bipolar Disorder 1 and 2. Jennifer has worked successfully with individuals who have experienced grief and trauma throughout their lives, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Jennifer shares that she enjoys the work that she does and finds joy in partnering with her clients. She meets clients “where they are at” in their journey and walks beside them so they can experience peace within their minds.
Jennifer sees clients in four of Samaritan’s satellite offices in Butler and Lawrence counties.
