Men's Counseling

portrait of serious man.jpeg

Seeking counseling shows strength and courage.

Did you know that:

  • One in 10 men suffers from anxiety and depression, yet only half seek treatment?

  • One in six males has experienced sexual abuse and/or assault?

  • Over 75% of suicides in the U.S. are committed by men?

  • The suicide rate for men is four times greater than it is for women?

Men tend to bury their emotions rather than process them. Some think that going to counseling is emasculating or shameful. Nothing could be further from the truth. Would you see a doctor if you broke your leg, or experienced shortness of breath? Your mental health is just as important as your physical health and the two are closely linked.

Seeking counseling shows strength, intelligence, and courage. It means that you not only care about helping yourself, but that you also care about how your behavior is affecting the lives of those around you.

Reasons that men seek counseling often include, but are not limited to:

  • Stress management

  • Depression and/or anxiety

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Anger management

  • Relationship problems

  • Substance abuse

  • Process addictions (such as pornography, gaming, gambling, sex)

  • Harassment based on sexual orientation
