“My role is not to lead or direct your journey, but to walk alongside you as a supportive and compassionate passenger, helping you navigate your path toward growth and healing. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can simply be yourself.” - Angela Kij

Licensed professional counselor, Angela Kij, uses a therapeutic approach which is client-centered and grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect. Fostering trust and a sense of safety, she gently explores and works through the challenges that her clients bring to therapy.
At Samaritan, Angela counsels adults, adolescents, and children, drawing from her solid history of success with each age group. She works with people who struggle with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse disorders, and more. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in her treatment plans. Motivated by her deep sense of caring for others and desire to broaden her knowledge as a therapist, Angela continues to engage in training in even more areas.

Prior to joining Samaritan’s clinical team, Angela’s employment in the field includes working as a mental health therapist and drug and alcohol counselor at Summit Academy, a juvenile placement facility, and as a therapist at a Pittsburgh psychiatric practice. She earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Penn State University.
