“I believe every person is created with the capacity to flourish, and my role is to help nurture that God-given potential.”

A bilingual (English and Korean) Mental Health Coach and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Debby Moon offers mental health coaching to adults virtually. Her priority method is CBT-informed, faith-based coaching. This combines the practical tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with the wisdom, encouragement, and hope found in faith principles while also incorporating strengths-based strategies, mindfulness, and creative ways to promote resilience, purpose, and life satisfaction.

Debby's path to mental health coaching began in the world of music. As a church musician and board-certified music therapist, she witnessed firsthand how creativity, faith, and community can spark healing and hope. Through her work as a therapist, she came to recognize that many people sought help only when life felt overwhelming. "I saw that focusing solely on symptom relief can overlook deeper opportunities for growth," she said. "I am passionate about helping people not just cope but truly thrive." This realization sparked Debby's transition from traditional clinical therapy to a coaching model.

Debby integrates years of teaching, research, and focused clinical experience into her work as a mental health coach. Her previous experience as a therapist includes working with children, youth, young adults and families in outpatient, school, and community settings, providing support for developmental disabilities, autism, emotional challenges, and trauma histories.

Debby is trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, CBT, and Nordoff-Robbins Creative Music Therapy. In addition to her role at Samaritan, Debby serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, and directs the Flourish Research Lab, which develops culturally responsive, community-engaged approaches to promoting mental well-being in under-resourced communities.

Outside of work, she enjoys making music, exploring local coffee shops, and spending time with her family.
