“Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or hopeless? Our life circumstances can often cause unhealthy thoughts and uncomfortable feelings. If you’re looking for support to help you function more like yourself again, I’m here for you.” — Gina Veschio
Gina Veschio believes that while we are all impacted by our family of origin, it doesn’t mean that we need to be held hostage by the past or the present. Serving at Samaritan’s Wexford office, Gina counsels both men and women, helping them identify and meet their needs in healthier ways, such as setting appropriate boundaries and navigating changing relationships, careers, and life stages. She treats anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, OCD, self-esteem, self-harming, relationship issues, stress management, and more.
Gina often works with women and mothers who are feeling lost, overwhelmed, or facing challenges during or after pregnancy or perimenopause. She also addresses issues such as divorce, adoption, motherhood, and spirituality.
Gina provides clients immediate support and practical tools for day-to-day improvement and works collaboratively to explore and resolve issues and change patterns that are not working for them. She explains that while every therapy session is different, she is consistently a supportive, guiding presence, working with clients to identify what is interfering in their lives and how to resolve it. Using tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and family systems theory—in addition to her skills and background in ministry and teaching yoga—she is adept at weaving faith and the mind-body connection into therapy.
Gina earned her Master of Science in Education, Counselor Education, and Marriage and Family Therapy from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. Before coming to Samaritan, Gina counseled people through her own private practice for 10 years. She also served as a research associate and project coordinator at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh.
Gina says: “You don't have to keep suffering alone. I know how all-consuming our negative thoughts and feelings can be, but I also know there can be freedom from that. Leading with compassion, I look forward to building a supportive, therapeutic relationship with you to help you feel more like yourself again.”
When she isn’t working, Gina loves to read, practice yoga, walk with her dog while listening to podcasts, watch documentaries, and create junk journals. As a loving mom, she also spends ample time “doing all of the mom things.”
Gina shares: “I’ve experienced incredible emotional transformations through different bouts of therapy in my own life, and I strive to give others the opportunity to do the same. Ultimately, I tailor my approach to you.”
