"I believe in holistic healing that takes into consideration the whole person—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual." - Jonathan Alvarado

Joining our clinical team in June, 2025, Jonathan will soon be counseling people in person at Samaritan's Sewickley and Upper St. Clair offices, as well as via teletherapy.* He strives to empower people to connect to themselves—their current as well as past experiences and emotions—in order to determine the direction they want to take to resolve their dilemmas and attain healing. He also frequently utilizes humor as a means of connecting with his clients and helping them to find joy along the path to healing.

Growing up in the northern Illinois area, Jonathan moved to Ohio, then Pennsylvania in his dream to become a counselor and a pursuit to do his best to make a difference in the world. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Jonathan earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH in 2025, where he also worked as a Resident Hall Director. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in clinical psychology with a minor in Theology.

He is a member of Integratis, the Journal of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association, where he assists them in research, editing, and publication of articles related to faith-based psychotherapy approaches.

Jonathan is also married to a counselor; the couple loves playing the guitar and hiking in the woods. Jonathan enjoys soccer, writing, running, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his family.
